365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 39
John 11:35 ” Jesus wept”
Are you experiencing a period of suffering in your life? We weep when we suffer don’t we? Jesus wept too eh? Some people on our church here in Fort mac are suffering from their parents undergoing some disease (leukemia) and it’s dragging them down.
Times like this that only the Cross brings comfort. But I cannot begin to imagine what it must be like for them.
But I see a suffering God who doesn’t love adversity - who loves life. He loves Me. He loves You. He loves each one of us so much He was willing to undergo excruciating pain and death to give us life to the fullest. He is not some God who sits in the clouds watching us suffer. He has been through it too and has wept bitterly.
Christ’s suffering ultimately led to the resurrection. God made a way to free us from suffering. . Taking the worst and making it better than we could ever have imagined.
But I don’t want to admit that the resurrection makes suffering easier. It’s not easy believing in God during tough times. Many asked the same questions all over again like “How can a loving God allow me to suffer so much?”
I’ve asked myself when faced with my own struggles. How could He? If He is powerful enough to stop suffering, than why doesn’t He? If He loves me, why would He let me get hurt?
If you are suffering right now, you’re not alone. I encourage anyone going through a tough time to reach out to those you trust. To fellowship with the ones who have been there- Christian people only.
Suffering has a way of helping us grow - in character, in our relationship with God and others. But it also tempts us to make poor decisions. We need the support of the Body of Christ, especially those who know suffering and have found truth, peace, hope, faith and love!
So if you are experiencing a period of suffering in your life, why dont you pick up the phone, join a Bible study, go to the prayer meeting and be uplifted by the message of God. God often works through His Church to comfort those who mourn. Amen??? Eh??
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 40
Psalms 119: 16
16 I shall delight in Your statutes ; I shall not forget Your word.
Do u ever buy ikea furnitures and u have to build it from the box? Some of us don’t even bother reading the instructions and go right at it. Sometime I do that- couldn’t lie on this. Sometimes after few tries building this furniture I get frustrated and then I start opening the manual and follow the steps. Then it’s fixed!
The manufacturer had a plan for putting together this furniture. But sometimes we smart up and assume we could figure it out ourselves. Many people take the same approach to the Scriptures. Instead of treating God’s Word like a manual to live by, we glance at it occasionally when they aren’t sure what to do next.
The Bible is like the Father’s diagram of Himself. He teaches believers who He is, what He thinks, and how He acts. Knowing the ways of the Lord ensures that we make wise decisions, which honor Him.
The Bible is also God’s instruction book for living. I emphasize reading it every day because believers cannot be spiritually successful or victorious without it.
In today’s passage, we read that if a person wants to be righteous, his or her life must comply upon God’s principles. Of course, the only way to know what those principles are is to read, study, and meditate upon the Word.
God’s Word is our most valuable possession. Setting it aside is as foolish as tossing away a wallet full of money. The Bible are where stories teaching us how to serve the Lord and principles about pleasing Him. And there is a tons of instruction for building a righteous and meaningful life.
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 38
Ephesians 4: 31-32
31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
Those who follow Christ doesn’t hang on to their anger, whether in the form of rage or resentment. This wrath that hardens in our hearts becomes a stronghold for Satan.
When i wasnt born again christian yet, my method for “curing” wrath is to either let it out in rage or hold back with resentment. These methods are not effective for solving problems or making an angry person feel better.
God’s way of dealing with this anger and resentment ends it and sets the believer free. As today’s passage reminds us, we are to “let all bitterness and wrath and anger, brawling and slander be put away from us, but in order to end all these we have to be aware of it that we are being overthrown by our anger.
If you’re angry to another person or to yourself, admit it and then identify the source. Knowing who or what ignited the animosity can prevent you from blaming other innocent people from your fury.
Once we know the source of our anger, it’s time to forgive, no matter what. Fury and unforgiveness often go together, and they’re heavy baggage that will drag you down. God calls us to set them aside and take up love and kindness instead. Forsaking anger means walking in His will with a light step with free spirit we got the Hoiy spirit walking with us… :)
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 37
Ephesians 6 :12-18
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
Wherever you go there’s no escape from the forces of evil. It follows you and wait for you to fall.
But take heart and have faith on God. Guard yourself from the evil attacks. The bible is our weapon against the strike of evil hence, when evil strikes we are atleast ready and can stand on our feet because we are guarded with the armor of God.
Always pray to God wherever you go for the guidance of the Holy Spirit because we never know when evil strike at you.
God bless you guys.
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 36
“Blessed is the man who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.” Luke 14:15
Are we feeding ourselves so full of the world that we are not hungry for Jesus??
Are we too too devoted to our job? Too much on television?? On Facebook?? Too much on gossips?? Too much on nothingness???
It’s should be a lesson for us to learn on what to feast on when it comes to food. What we choose to consume and when to consume which will satisfy us physically. The same aspect in feeding our spirit. Consider what you are feeding on, what you are filling yourself with, each day in your life spiritually.
We are what we eat, physically and spiritually. Today, consider what is filling up your life. Don’t spoil your supper, your spiritual feeding with too much that is empty, hollow and not healthy for you. You should be careful on what you feed yourself spiritually and make room in your life for what is good for you because one day, soon or later you will feast in the kingdom with our God.
I’m Not sure if i’m feeding myself of what is good for me.. do you? Have you tried spending a week not praying, not reading your Bible and not spending any time with other Christians that includes any church service, class,Bible study, or prayer meeting? Then, see how you feel. Remember, when we feast on prayer, God’s Word and fellowship with other believers, we will never walk away feeling empty. Am i right???
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 35
Psalm 9:7-10 7 The LORD reigns forever; 8 He will judge the world in righteousness; 9 The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, 10 Those who know your name will trust in you,
he has established his throne for judgment.
he will govern the peoples with justice.
a stronghold in times of trouble.
for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.
How much do you trust God? Do you really trust the Lord when everything seems out of control and He appears to be absent? … when painful circumstances comes, making you wonder if the Lord really cares?
We all have times of doubt when God doesn’t seem to straighten out the situation. Many of us want to trust Him more but aren’t sure how to do so.
Distance in our relationship with Him results in a lack of faith, but those who are intimately acquainted with Christ find it easier to trust Him wholeheartedly.
Whenever you are tempted to doubt, remember that
God has everything in His control even when we can’t understand the situation.
The Lord knows every side of the situation inside and out; and every event (past, present, and future).
And without exception, He always chooses what is best for us, even if it’s not easy.
We grow in faith, not by trying harder to believe but by pursuing the Lord. This involves doing all we can to get to know Him, spending time in His Word and talking to Him in prayer. Then our trust in Him will grow as we learn that He never forsakes those who seek Him.
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 34
2 Corinthians 5: 7
“For we walk by faith, not by sight!”
Have you ever played the game where you are paired to someone who will guide you audibly while you are being blindfolded?
I remember when kuya Jp Pil came to fort mac and we play that game on a maze. We play this game too during CyN camp. Remember? :)
Being blindfolded is really uncomfortable because you don’t k ow if you can trust your guide. Or if you have a good guide.
As Christians, this illustrates how our lives are to be lived. We are never promised that we will see everything we want to see in this life. And we dont have the guarantee to understand our circumstances or why we must face times of hardship and struggle on earth.
Instead, we are told to follow the voice of the Lord. To focus on our dependence on our God and to trust Him in what we cannot see.
God knows what opportunities lie ahead for you, so be encouraged! And may we continue learning to live each day by faith and not by sight!
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 33
Hebrews 13:6
So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, and I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”
No one gets through life without trials. As a matter of fact, you are either in a storm right now, just getting out of a one, or about to enter a dark tunnel. That is the bad news. Thankfully, we serve a good BIG God who strengthens you vu His Grace especially during the dark periods of life.
Our God gives us, Christians His presence and the promise that He will never leave or abandon us. The Lord blesses His children with a pathway through trouble. He is in total control of our storm and will use the trial for His purpose. We may not understand, but we can trust His hand to guide us and accomplish good. Sometimes the reason and benefit of a difficulty will becomes obvious, while in other cases, it may never be clear.
Our God also offers believers the potential to grow through Hardships to test us if we trust Him and to learn more fully who God is and how great His power and love to us.
No one enjoys trials. But remember to thank, honour and praise Him for God’s hand in your life and the way He will use the trials in your life. Hardships are chances to trust your Creator and to know Him better. Of course, they are painful, but don’t waste the opportunity to become all the Lord has planned for you.
Now may the God of peace who by the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus Christ equip you with every good thing to do his will, working in us what is pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever. Amen. (Hebrews 13: 20-21)
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 32
John 3:3
Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
All things change in your life once you are born again; the way we speak, the way act, the way we dress, our music, and our environment changes too. We tend to avoid going to the clubs, casinos, and evil’s traps.
I had an encounter today with my new buddy at work, new apprentice, I told him my story of me not getting hired yet. And he responded to me, ” you must me pissed off waiting for the job offer eh?” I was like, no man and I just smiled. But I said to myself I’m not pissed off of waiting because I have Faith and I Trust God that He will give me a job. But I did a mistake, I should’ve said that to him instead of keeping it to myself. But anyways, my point is we should show and act like a Christian and show them how different we are from unbelievers!
We should expect believers to act like believers and unbeliever as unbelievers. When an unbeliever persistently continues in their sin, we should not be surprised, they are simply acting according to their nature. They are showing that they are slaves to sin. But we, CHRISTIANS, are here to change their lives and lead them to our saviour! We must willfully indulge in to their lives to first put away their sin before coming to Jesus, and accept SALVATION. Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners. We must always remember that Jesus did not come to reform us back to the law, but rather to reconcile us back to God.
Continue to act like CHRISTIANS and be proud of it!
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 31
Acts 2: 12-13
12 Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”
13 Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine. “
There’s so much joy and power and overflowing involved with the Holy Spirit, that sometimes, well, we Christians just seem a little bit crazy. We do things, we act like drunken people and unbelievers don’t understand us when the Holy spirit is within us. The Holy Spirit has been poured out, and I’ve always found it fascinating that its effects could be mistaken for the pouring out of beers!
I used to drink liquors, and different kinds of beer through the influence of peers. But I gotta say, being sober and poured out with Holy spirit is way more fun than we could ever imagine without any influence of ”less hollier spirit- liquor”. I have more laughs hanging out with fellow Christians than hanging out out in the clubs.
Are you tipsy on the outpourings of the Holy Spirit in your life? What’s holding this back? Is there a dam keeping the river from flowing out of you? Take the first step to remove it by looking back to the time when you were first saved or relying entirely on God to do work in His Kingdom.
365 Daily Devotion Challenge Day 30
1 Corinthians 7:22
For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave is the Lord’s freedman. In the same way, the one who was called as a free person is Christ’s slave.
My bible reading today is the whole chapter 7. And it is a great revelation from God that I applied at work today.
As usual event at work, I’m working too too hard, juggling 2 power plants At the same time. One is under maintenance and one is currently running. But I work with obnoxious crew from different team and they were telling to people that I never do work! God knows how I work hard every single day. I know God is happy from my Christian actions at work even if I’m being ridiculed, insulted At work- I never talk back to them yet I humble myself and I continue to do the right thing for the Glory of God.
This should be our reaction to unbelievers who insults us, disrespect us abuse us or who mocks our “Christian actions”. Just humble yourself. God knows what to do to these people so don’t worry about them. Leave them to God. And if ever your great works in school or at work are never noticed or appreciated, don’t worry about it cuz God will be the one to reward you and you won’t believe how remarkable and mArvelous rewards you’ll get…
Pray to God whenever unbelievers strike on you! God got your back! :)
